The Corona pandemic has radically changed the way we experience proximity in the arts and society. That is why the originally planned Artistic Research Masterclass GLOBE PLAYHOUSE at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF became the project GLOBE PLAYHOUSE SPACELAB. In this context, Frank Geßner opened the first post-pandemic virtual reality exhibition on Friday, September 18, 2020, in the digitally reconstructed “Villa Palladio“, freely based on Pier Paolo Pasolini’s scenario “The Earth seen from the Moon“ and thus recalling on a virtual rehearsal stage the “planetary perspective“ of Suprematism. A Mozilla Hubs web platform was developed for this purpose; on it, users can interact, work, and exhibit with each other in the specifically generated 3D environment as avatars from remote locations in the collective common spaces of a self-designed “metaverse“.
