As a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, Frank Geßner works on an expanded concept of animation based on classical and experimental arts in order to pass on cultural heritage and develop hybrid art formats. The interdisciplinary work is particularly interested in the interrelation of visual, performing and time-based arts and their relationship to architecture, sculpture, image, poetry, music, and language. This opens up new, and necessarily critical spaces for thinking about artistic practice and theory building. Similar to basic research, art enables knowledge gain and the development of new forms, combinations, perspectives, and models.
